MONTEREY — Services for Ethel G. Allen, 89, of Monterey, who died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2018, in Monterey, will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Monterey First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Rushing officiating.
Burial will follow at Scott Cemetery under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the church.
Mrs. Allen was born July 7, 1929, in Vidalia, the daughter of Lloyd R. Girlinghouse and Thelma Enlow Girlinghouse.
She was a member of Monterey First Baptist Church and loved to China paint.
Allen was preceded in death by her husband, O.C. Allen, and her parents.
Survivors include one daughter, Andrea Carroll and husband, Dewayne, of Eunice, La.; one son, Clay Allen and wife, LaQuita, of Virginia; one granddaughter, Brandy Poole and husband, Pat, of Monterey; three great-grandsons, Layton, Tommy and Trey Poole; three great-great-grandsons, Nathan, Braiden and Logan Poole; and two very special caregivers, Danielle Ellis and Joyce McNeil.
Pallbearers will be Layton Poole, Tommy Poole, Trey Poole, Pete Ford, Donnie Enlow, Brad Adams, Stephen Simpson and Kevin Poole.
Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Lambright, James C. Enlow, Eddie Poole, Pat Poole, Tom Baldwin and Greg Poole.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Aiden’s Light.
