BROOKHAVEN — Services for Gerald Ray Smith, 68, of Brookhaven, who died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Riverwood Family Funeral Service, with the Rev. Joel David Smith and the Rev. John Larry officiating.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Church of Christ Cemetery under the direction of Riverwood Family Funeral Service.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at Riverwood.
Mr. Smith was born July 7, 1950, the son of Homer W. Smith and Ivy Mae Smith.
He was a painter by trade and the owner of his company.
Smith enjoyed life by being involved in the community and at New Hope Church of Christ, where he served faithfully.
Some of his pastime activities included fishing and watching western movies. He also helped with Dixie League Baseball for about 20 years. He was a connoisseur of candy, his favorites being “Sour Patch” and “Haribo Gummy Worms.”
Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline Smith and his parents.
Survivors include two sons, Shane Smith and Robert Smith; two daughters, Amanda Pinkerton and Katie Keating; six grandchildren, Chelsea Smith, Nicholas Kennedy, Heath Weeks, Coen Keating, Brady Keating and Kently Keating; and four great-grandchildren, Brantlee Smith, Kensley Kennedy, Jasper J. Weeks and Oliver Weeks.
