Members of the local nonprofit organization Y’all Means All — Natchez had a successful first year of operation.
Members of the organization announced Monday that they had raised $30,000 in the first year of operation.
In making the announcement Monday, members presented a $10,000 check to Southwest Mississippi Mental Health Services, aka Clear Path, and announced plans to donate another $10,000 to the organization soon.
Also, plans are in the works to hold a series of seminars in Natchez to help with the groups mission of suicide prevention and improving mental health conditions in the Miss-Lou.
Y’all Means All was formed early in 2019 after a young man committed suicide as he struggled with his sexuality.
In response, both gay and straight members founded a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and uses proceeds to contribute to mental health counseling and promote Mississippi’s mental health crisis hotline 877-353-8689, members said.
To that end, Y’all Means All held a series of fundraisers throughout the year, including a GAY-rage sale and a Battle of the Belle’s in which straight men dressed in drag to raise money for the cause.
Congratulations, on a first year of success, Y’all Means All — Natchez, and thanks to all supporters for contributing to a worthy cause. We wish Y’all Means All many more years of success and we hope the efforts will prevent any future tragedies such as the one that inspired the organization’s foundation.
