Robert “Rock” Davis recently announced his candidacy for Sheriff of Concordia Parish.
“Today after many prayers and consultation with family, I am formally announcing my candidacy for Sheriff of Concordia Parish,” Davis said. “For the past 30 years, I have mentored many of your children in the Concordia Parish School System. I have served the public in law enforcement as patrol and resource officers with the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office. I also served as chief of police for the towns of Ferriday and Jonesville.”
Davis said his years of public service have been defined by respect and dedication.
“I have always dedicated my service to making sure that I placed the citizens first,” Davis said. “I can assure everyone in Concordia Parish, when elected, the department that serves you will reflect my principles, very simple, humbleness and dedication to meet your needs.”
Davis said he would unveil his plan for improving law enforcement service in Concordia Parish in the coming weeks.
The plan will include, “specifically focusing on police community relations, establishing a resource officer program for the entire school system, work with the court to establish a truancy program, better health insurance program for our officers, reestablishing a 20-year retirement system, quicker response time to citizens’ complaints and providing follow-up with the victims or family members when working their complaint,” Davis said.
Another priority would be job training for offenders, Davis said.
“Under my guidance, the department staff will develop a job-training program for non-violent offenders incarcerated in our facility,” Davis said. “It is our expectation to release them to a job. We also will develop a program to assist the elderly citizens in the parish with helping hands. My passion is to improve the quality of life for all citizens through sound and effective law enforcement.
“I hope I can count on your vote and support.”
