NATCHEZ — An Adams County Jail inmate flushed his way into more trouble Monday after he allegedly fought with law enforcement officials in his jail cell.

Michael Jeffery Washington, 24, 109 Mimosa Drive, was charged with aggravated assault on a policeman Monday.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said Washington had started repeatedly flushing the toilet in his cell Monday morning in an attempt to flood the cell.

Mayfield said jailers and other ACSO personnel instructed Washington to stop, but said the Natchez man continued flushing the toilets.

“He wouldn’t listen to them, so they had to go in forcibly and during that exchange (Washington) assaulted two of the officers,” Mayfield said. “He kicked one of the officers and tried to bite another until they finally got him under control.”

Mayfield said his officers were not injured during the altercation.

Washington received a $75,000 bond for the additional charge and remained in the Adams County Jail Tuesday evening.

Washington was previously arrested Dec. 8 on charges of disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, simple assault — domestic violence and disorderly conduct.
