LAKE PROVIDENCE, La. — The Ferriday Trojans were determined to put an end to their three-game losing streak, and more importantly, the Trojans were looking to notch their first district win of the season.

They were able to do both Friday in a 36-6 win against General Trass.

“The first half was sloppy, but we really responded in the second half,” Ferriday head coach Dwight Woods said. “The kids are resilient and give credit to all the assistant coaches and the kids because they really stepped up. They played well and said all week they were going to. We did everything we were supposed to.”

Ronald Davis was a force for Ferriday finding the end zone three times in three different ways.

“Ronald had an interception return on defense, caught a touchdown pass and then ran another one in,” Woods said. “He had an outstanding game.”

Ferriday defensive tackle and Alabama commit Dare Rosenthal even found the end zone on an interception return.

Malik Hampton, who Woods said played a solid game, had a rushing touchdown.

“Malik did a great job running the ball,” Woods said. “He is a steady back for us.”

For Woods, the game was also a return to his previous stomping grounds where he coached last season.

“It was interesting,” Woods said of returning to General Trass. “But for us, it was all about focusing on a district game we needed to win. It was good to see we wanted the win and the power points.”

Up next for Ferriday is another district clash against Sterlington.
