NATCHEZ —The Natchez-Adams School District’s officials, teachers, staff and students are spreading an anti-bullying awareness message this weekend to show they do not tolerate bullying.

The district will host its Second-annual Anti-Bullying Summit at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Natchez High School Auditorium, with registration starting at 8 a.m.

The summit will last until 2:30 p.m. Saturday with lunch provided and is free and open to the public.

The General Assembly will begin with greetings from school and elected officials as well as clergymen.

Zandra McDonald, deputy superintendent, will review the district’s bullying policy after which students from the Natchez Freshman Academy will present a skit under the direction of their language arts teacher, Chameiko Miller.

Students in kindergarten through 12th-grade will later engage in breakout sessions facilitated by members of the community and the Natchez Police Department and Adams County Sheriff’s Office.

These sessions will be focused on bullying, cyber-bullying, gang-related violence, peer-pressure, suicide, teen pregnancy and domestic violence topics.

Smokey Bear also will be there to reinforce anti-bullying with the younger students.

School officials will introduce the district’s “See Something, Say Something” initiative during the summit to help combat future bullying in the district.
