FERRIDAY— Services for Huey Long Nelson, 83, of Clayton, who died Friday, May 31, 2019, in Ferriday, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Young’s Funeral Home Ferriday Chapel with Dana Nelson the Rev. Donald Money officiating.
Burial will follow at Old Pine Hill Cemetery in Leland, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Nelson was born Sept. 13, 1935, in Foules, La., the son of Jesse Matthew Nelson Sr. and Lillie Egloff Nelson.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a sportsman and loved hunting, fishing and he was an artist.
Mr. Huey served his country in the U.S. Air Force.
Nelson was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Merion Stogner and Viola Tiffee; and three brothers, Russell Nelson, Skylar Nelson and Jesse Nelson Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary Nelson; three daughters, Vickie Nelson Zuccaro of Ferriday, Dana Nelson and Carla Nelson, both of Clayton; one son, Randall Nelson and wife, Melissa, of Austin, Texas; seven grandchildren, Thomas Zuccaro, Chris Zuccaro, Gabriel Nelson and wife, Micah, Hilary Bond and husband, Darrin, Kinsey Worley and husband, Josh, Paige Dawson and Adam Boyd; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Zuccaro, Chris Zuccaro, Gabriel Nelson, Josh Worley, Darrin Bond, Damon Harrington, Johnny Nelson and Luke Harrington.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Faith, Hope and Love Ministry (Family Prison Ministry providing Bibles for inmates) at Concordia Bank-Ferriday.
