NATCHEZ — A second woman with COVID-19 died Friday morning at a nursing home in Adams County, local officials said.

Adams County coroner James Lee said the victim, an 85-year-old female, died at approximately 7:30 a.m. at an unnamed nursing home, which was the same facility where another woman in her early 80s died with the virus on April 6.

The name of the nursing home and identity of the patients were not disclosed in order to protect the families’ privacy, Lee said.

“At this point in the pandemic, we all need to expect the unexpected,” Lee said. “We are not at the plateau or peak of this pandemic in Mississippi. … My heartfelt condolences go to this family.”

Friday morning’s death makes the sixth reported COVD-19 related death in Adams County since March, Lee said.
